Tahuri grew up in a diverse area of West Auckland in a whanau with a strong sense of cultural identity. His iwi affiliations are Ngāti Porou, Ngati Tuwharetoa, Waikato, and Ngāti Raukawa ki te Tonga.

He is an accomplished martial artist winning the 2017 WKA South Pacific Muay Thai Title in Tahiti and winning the 2020 WMC Asia Pacific Professional Muaythai Title in Thailand. He continues to train and compete professionally and uses his skills, knowledge and experience to develop meaningful and transformative care placements & programs for high-risk rangatahi in Tamaki Makaurau.

He values his role as the C.E.O of Taniwha Services and hopes to inspire Rangatahi with his accomplishments, dedication and hard working ethic both in sport and as a business entrepreneur. Knowing that real change takes time, he is excited about the amazing opportunities Taniwha Services provides for high risk Rangatahi in the community.
